Apply for the Reliability Seal
Step I - Must be a member of the appropriate local Better Business Bureau.
If the company is not already a BBB member, it can apply for BBB membership at the BBBOnLine Reliability seal. Completing the BBBOnLine Reliability application form will initiate this process. Both applications must be reviewed and approved by the BBB where the company is headquartered.
Step II - Ensure you meet the BBBOnLine Reliability Program Eligibility Criteria
  • The company must be based or have a physical presence in the United States or Canada.
  • The company must have been in business for a minimum of one year (An exception can be made if a new business is a spinoff or a division of an existing business, which is known to and has a positive track record with the BBB.)
  • The company must have a satisfactory complaint handling record with and be a member of the Better Business Bureau where is headquartered.
  • The company must agree to all of the BBBOnLine Reliability Requirements.
  • Charities/non-profits that solicit donations are not eligible for the BBBOnLine Reliability seal. Click here for more information on BBB seals for charities.
Step III - Submit your Business Application
Complete the online application form, which provides us with information regarding company ownership, management, address and contact information for the business. The application will be forwarded to the BBB serving your area. When necessary to gain a better understanding of the business, the Better Business Bureau may schedule a visit the company's physical premises.
Step IV - Sign Participation Agreement and pay program fee.
The BBB serving your area will require a Participant Agreement be signed and provide any other documents necessary to complete your application. There is a license fee for participating in BBBOnLine Reliability. Fees vary based on the size of the company. Pricing information will be provided by your Better Business Bureau. To find the BBB nearest you, click here.
Step V - Final Approval
After your web site has been reviewed and your company has been approved for BBB membership and BBBOnLine Reliability, you will receive an e-mail with the BBBOnLine seal and instructions on how to install it on your website.
